Moving On: Transitioning Families From CPSE to CSE

Arc Herkimer's Training Center, 350 S. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY

Area families and professionals are invited to attend “Moving On: Transitioning Families From CPSE to CSE,” hosted by Arc Herkimer on Thursday, February 9. The workshop, presented by the Syracuse University Parent Assistance Center (SUPAC) and the Mid-State Special Education Parent Technical Assistance Center, will be held at Arc Herkimer’s Training Center at 350 S. Washington Street, Herkimer, NY, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The training is free and open to the public. Registration is required by calling Janet LaRock at (315) 574-7780 or jlarock@archerkimer.org.

Shana Lewis will advise families and providers that the transition from preschool to kindergarten is easier when the process is understood. It is a time of excitement and anxiety. For families with children with disabilities, this transition can be even more challenging. This workshop will help participants to understand the transition process, to be an active member of the transition team, to understand the difference between CPSE and CSE and the components of an IEP (Individualized Education Program), and to strategize ways to introduce new providers to the child. Transition is a time of opportunity, growth, and celebration.
